College Honors Area Students
The following local residents were
named to the Georgia College & State
University Dean's List for fall semes-
ter, Dr. Anne Gormly, Vice President
and Dean of Faculties, announced
recently.
Andrew Dow of LaGrange and
Kimberly Edmondson of LaGrange
To be selected for the Dean's List, a
student must earn a minimum of 3.2
grade point average on 12 or more hours
of work attempted for the quarter and
have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point
average.
Geo',ga College & State University,
located in" --Milledgeville, GA., is
Georgia's publi liberal arts university.
William (Barney) Harrison
November 9, 1925 - January 27, 2002
William H. (Barney) Harrison, 76, of Hogansville, died
January 27 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
The funeral service was conducted January 29 in the Chapel
of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in
Hogansville. The Reverend Donald Phillips officiated and
interment was in the Corinth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Thomas Emory, A1 Herndon, Tony
Johnson, Keith Jones, Luby Johnson, Alvin Hannah, and
Melvin Thomas.
Mr. Harrison was born November 9, 1925 in Troup County,
son of the late John Henry Harrison and the late Ella Mae
Winslett Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Troup County,
was a member of the Baptist church, and was retired from
J.O. Barber Lumber Company in Luthersville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Emory Harrison;
one daughter and son in-law, Frances and Richard Herndon;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sybil Harrison,
all of Hogansville and David and Stari Harrison of LaGrange;
one sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Bobby Jones of
Jonesboro; one brother, Jesse Harrison of Chamblee; four
grandchildren, Paulette Hunter, Nikki Harrison, A1 Herndon,
and Ashley Harrison; and two great grandchildren, Cheyanne
Hunter and Alex Herndon. He was preceded in death by a
grandson, Kenny Herndon.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Becky L. Ware
February 20, 1953 - January 27, 2002
Mrs. Rebecca Lance (Becky) Ware, 48, of Carrollton, died
January 27 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. The funer-
al service was conducted January 30 in the Chapel of the
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.
The Reverend Jimmy Rogers officiated and interment was
in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Born February 20, 1953 in Tyler, Texas, Mrs. Ware had
lived in Carrollton since 1975 and was a registered nurse and
an associate real estate broker. She was a former member

of the Junior Women's Club of Carrollton, a past district pres-
ident of the Junior Women's Clubs of Georgia, and was active
in the Democratic Party. For a number of years, Mrs. Ware
was active in the P.T.A., the Band Boosters Club, and the
Athletic Boosters Club at Central High School in Carrollton.
She was a member of the Baptist church and enjoyed flower
gardening, needle crafts and "cake decorating.
Survivors include her husband, Peter W. VCare of
Carrollton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Patrick and
Kristina Ware of Athens, and James Robert Ware of CarroUton:
one daughter, Amy Elizabeth Ware, attending L.S.U. at Baton
Rouge, La.; her mother, Mrs. Ruth Rogers Lance of Stone
Mountain; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Harper of Coral Springs,
Florida and Mrs. Linda Woods of Glenville; one brother, John
I_lce, Jr of Cleveland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father. Dr. John Mercer
Lance.

Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
Everett L. Trekell
February 20, 1946 - January 26, 2002
Everett L. Tt'ekell, 55, of Hogansville, died January 26 at
Atlanta Medical Center. The funeral service was conducted
January 29 in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and
Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jimmy
Black officiated and entombment was at Restlawn Memory
Gardens in LaGrange.
Mr. Trekell was born February 20,1946 in Alva, Oklahoma,
and was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army. He lived in
the Atlanta area before making his home in Hogansville fif-
teen years ago, and was a retired heavy equipment opera-
tor.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joann Brown Trekell of
Hogansville; three sons, Allen Smith Mobley, Jr. of
Jacksonville, Alabama, David Anthony Mobley of Forest
Park, and James Edward Mobley of Forsyth; two daughters,
Miss Deborah Ann Mobley of Hogansville and Mrs. Theresa
Diana Farmer of Canton:two sisters, Mrs. Martha Staggs of
Chickasaw, Oklahoma and Mrs. Olive Marranda of Oklahoma
City; seventeen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Training for those fami-

foster or adoptive home takes
one night a week for ten
weeks.

free of cost.
