UMW President Wood welcomed the women's and opened the meeting with good Samaritan. present included Clara Angela Chambers, Kay Gayla Jones, Jean Mote, Newsome, Leslie Pike, Kathy Helen Thrash, Mae Towns, Whitlock, Alma Wood, all of Marty Wagner of and Kappy Carter, daugh- Mote, of South Carolina. Individual booklets prepared by Nancy Newsome wee distributed to members. These booklets highlight the Mountvflle UMW. Marty Wagner reminded mem- bers of the upcoming Ash Wednesday service to be held February 13th. Gayla Jones mentioned the Easter Lilies that will be placed in the church sanctuary in honor/memory of loved ones and friends. The lilies will remain in the church sanctuary through Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. They will then be dis- tributed to sick and shut-ins of the Mountville Community. Barrett, Christopher Shelton to Wed Miss Taylor Barrett is to wed Christopher Shelton in a ceremony to take place at Hogansville First United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 9th at 3:00 in the afternoon. Following their exchange of vows, Taylor and Chris will have their daughter Sharon Danielle Shelton christened. There will be a reception at lone Oak Community Center immediately after the cere- monies. Taylor is the daughter of Joseph Barrett of Hogansville and the late Sharon Emfinger Barrett of Manchester. Chris is the son of James (Jr.) Shelton of Luthersville and Deborah Denney of Grantville. Taylor and Chris would like to invite all family and friends to share these occa- sions with them. She explained the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial is a special observance for United Methodist Women. Through it they are challenged to engage in prayer and to reflect upon stewardship as they respond to needs in specific areas of the mission pro- gram of the church.
