More than,just another win, the rout of Manchester was head baseball coach Dusty Hubbard's 100th win, giving him a record of 100- 53 at the end of the game. A surprise party was held for Hubbard at Callaway High School after the team returned from the game. AFrER trouncing Man- chester, the Cavaliers were themselves trounced by Troup County. The game was played on Saturday, Mar. 12, and the Cavaliers lost 12-1, in the game that was shortened to six innings. No details were made available on game before press deadline. After the loss to Troup Count]/, the Cavaliers were 1- 0 in Region SAA and S-1 over- Is the Color at By ANDY KOBER w The Callaway ['ih School baseball team made quick and easy work" of Manchester, beating the Blue Devils 18-0 in their first region game of the season, played Tuesday, Mar. 8. Cavalier pitcher Hunter Harrington earned the win, working only three innings in the shortened game and facing the minimum of nine batters. Two Manchester players did reach base, but Harrington picked off both of them. While Harrington con- fused and confounded the Blue Devil bats, the Cavalier offense feasted on Manchester pitching and mistakes. The Cavaliers hammered the Blue Devils for four runs .in the first inning, and that was only the opening act. In the second inning, . the Cavaliers blasted 12 more runs and then added two in the third inning. The game was stopped all. So far, the Cavaliers have outscored their opponents, 62-20. The Cavaliers are in sec- ond place in Region 5AA, trailing Jordan who has two region wins. The Cavaliers were scheduled to play Central, Carrolton on Monday, Mar. 14, and Temple on Tuesday, Mar. 15, but neither result was available at press time. LOOKING ahead, the Cavalier baseball team: Travels to Carver, Columbus on Friday, Mar. 18, for a double-header at Golden Park, with the game times at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Hosts Harris County, Monday, Mar. 21, 6 p.m.; Hosts Jordan, Tuesday, Mar. 22, 6 p.m.; and Travels to Heard County, Friday, Mar. 25, 5:30 p.m. Soccer Teams Dominate Carver By ANDY KOBER The Callaway High soc- cer teams dominated Carver of Columbus in action held Monday, Mar. 7. The girls played first game and soundly trounced Carver, 4-0. For the girls, Krystin Bradley earned the hat trick, scoring three goals, and Brittany Kiss added the fourth goal of the game. After the girls set the stage, the boys won in style, beating the Columbus team, 9-1. Kyle Czarnonyzc scored four goals, Kendall Hyatt scored three, and Park Neese added two more to cap the offensive effort. Cavaiers Drop Golf Match to Pike By ANDY KOBER Head Golf Coach John Bradshaw reports that Callaway High lost a match to Pike County Mst week. The match was played Tuesday, Mar. 8, at the Cedars golf course. Patrick Strickland was low medalist shooting a four over par 40. Also scoring for the Cavaliers were Aaron McClellan at 46, Matt Caraway at 47 and Clint Putnal with a 52. Also play- ing for the Cavaliers was Tim Osborn. The Cavaliers were scheduled, t 9 face Manchester at Warm Springs on Tuesday, Mar. 15, and Hari'is County and Pike County on Thursday, Mar. 17, at the Overlook.
