Court Resembles
A Chaotic Mockery?
HOGANSVIIA HOME NEWS - MARCH 22, 2001
DEAR EDITOR:
Mockery is defined by
Merriarn-Webster as "an insin-
cere, contemptible, or imperti-
nent imitation of something
worthwhile; farce; joke; laugh-
ingstock."
This is a very fitting descrip-
tion of the City of Hogansville
Municipal Court.
The March 8 session was com-
plete chaos!
The extremely small court-
room was packed and everyone
in attendance, including the
judge, police officers, probation
officers, lawyers, plaintiffs,
defendants and spectators, were
all talking at once.
Four small children were
allowed to run up and down the
aisle and in and out of the rows
of seats and call out to their moth-
er and father and to each other
during the entire proceedings.
It reminded me of a three-
ring circus!
I always thought there was
supposed to be "order in the
court."
I was subpoenaed to appear
as a witness in a case, and I could
not hear one word that was spo-
ken by the person testifying.
I do not understand why the
judge chose not to show some pro-
fessionalism and civility and con-
trol the proceedings so that a law
abiding citizen could have a lit-
tle more confidence in our judi-
cial system.
As it stands now, I hope that
I never have to waste my time
and hairspray to have to attend
such a pathetic event.
I was extremely disappoint-
ed by the whole thing, and don't
see why it should even take place
if the laws and rules of order are
not enforced.
It is hard for me to have
respect for a court of law that is
conducted in such a manner as
this one was.
Thank you for this opportuni-
ty to voice my opinion.

Consider Baby Abuse
DEAR FJDITOP
we live in an amazing socie-
ty, don't we: Anything can and
will happen. I love animals as wen
as anybody, and probably better
than some. I do not like to see
them mistreated.
I love children more so, and
I do not want to see them abused
or mistreated in any way. It seems
to me that we kinda got things out
of perspective in the society we
live in today. When an animal is
abused or mistreated in any way,
there is always a lot of publicity,
and all kinds of public outcries
about it.
How come we do not hear
more about the thousands of
babies that are aborted, and those
that are abused each day? The
public and our government will
hang somebody that abuses ani-
mals, and they should be pun-
ished, but why don't we do some-
thing about the abgrtionist and
the abuser? When you take a
baby's life you are committing
murder, and getting away with it
in man's eyes. But remember this
one thing, you will give account
for this senseless murder one day.
I believe as a Christian, if we
can do anything about abortion
and don't do it, then we are guilty
also. I believe that we have the
power through the, Holy Spirit to
do something, if we will only pray
and seek God's will and be obe-
dient to the Holy Spirit.
