When Wehmeyer joined ABC News in 1994, she became the first correspondent to report for a net- work on religious and spiritual is- sues. Based in the ABC News Dal- las Bureau, Wehmeyer reports for World News Tonight with Peter Jcnnings md its "America Agenda" series. Before joining ABC News, Wehmeyer had for more than 10 years covered religious and social issues for WFAA-TV, the ABC affiliated station in Dallas. Wehmeyer joined WFAA in 1980 as an assigmnent editor and be- came a reporter lhe following year. Previously, she had served as di- rector of public information for the Dallas Theological Seminary, where she also studied. Wehmeyer has received numer- ous awards lot her work, most re- cently two Cinc Golden Eagle Awards and an international Fihn & Video Festival Award; a Cov- enant Award from the Souflern Baptist Radio and Television Com- mission; and a Wilbur Award from the Religion Public Relations Council.
