HOGANSVILLE HOME NEWS - APRIL 12, 2001 Gordon Sims April 1, 1905 - April 8, 2001 HOGANSVILLE - Gordon Sims, 96, of HogansviUe, died Sunday, April 8, at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs. The funer- al service was conducted April 10 in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Elder Phillip Dukes officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Pallbearers were Irvin O'Neal, Billy Hamilton, Johnny Hamilton, Terry Kogh, Gordon Whitten, and Chuck Whitten. Mr. Sims was born April 1, 1905 in Meriwether County, son of the late John Preston Sims and the late Lizzie Woodruff Sims. He was a lifelong resi- dent of Hogansville, was a member of Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church, and was retired from Uniroyal, Inc. after 45 years of service. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Lois Whitten and Mrs. Virginia Marchman, both of Hogansville, and Mrs. Dorothy Fuller of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville was in charge of arrange- ments. Preston Etheridge June 29,1921 - April 5, 2001 GREENVILLE - William Preston Etheridge, 79, of Greenville, died Thursday, April 5 at his home. A memorial service was conducted April 7 in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jonathan Porter officiated and private interment was in the Greenville Cemetery. Mr. Etheridge was born June 29,1921 in Brantley, Alabama, son of the late Daniel and Bessie Davis Etheridge. He had lived in Greenville for many years and was a retired truck driver. He was a Methodist and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War Two. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie Stitcher Etheridge of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Frances E. Smith of Manchester; and nieces and nephews. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville was in charge of arrange- ments.
