Honor Memory of Heroic Boyfriend from 58 Years Ago
Mrs. Frances Goode Norred and her hus-
are coming to Hogansville to honor
memory of the boy who romanced her
The Norreds have contacted Memorial
co-chairman Ray Colemon and are com-
I to the ceremony sponsored by the
]igansville Chamber of Commerce
Mrs. Norred's attention was focused again
in Hogansville after Calvin Thrower was fea-
tured in one of a series of articles about the
names on the Hogansville memorial. Mrs.
Norred wants to meet the surviving mem-
bers ofCalvin's family and see his cross at
the cemetery. She thinks the silver cross
Calvin had when he died was the one she gave
many Hogansvflle veterans. The bank will
open before and after the ceremony espe-
ciaUy for the veterans, their families and the
public. The bank is buying a new display case
for this occasion and wants to use it for rotat-
ing displays about Hogansville veterans.
Others wishing to help with the ceremo-
ny, please contact co-chairman Mike Johnson
({)mmittee at Calvin Hipp Park at 8 a.m.
i nday, May 28th. She wishes to do homage
i [Calvin Thrower, the young man with whom

'J ipan, June 1944.
him the last day they saw each other.
Additionally, two members of the late
Robert Cousin's outfit in Vietnam may also
attend the service.
The Flag Bank in Hogansville has agreed
to display the military memorabilia from
(637-5002), or Tommy Thrower (637-6226).
Also, the Chamber is looking for addition-
al military memorabilia to display at Flag
Bank. Please contact Bill or Mary Stankiewicz
at 637-9497 or bring the materials to their
shop at 200 East Main Street in Hogansville.
