Cecil Owings May 18, 1942 - April 30, 2003 Miss Hope Terrell November 8, 1904 - May 10, 2003 Cecil R. Owings, 60, of Hogansville, died April 30th at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The funeral service was conducted May 3rd in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Max McCord officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Pallbearers were Calvin Owings, Jr., Jeremy Owings, Mark Owings, Chris Owings, Bobby Owings, Virgil Elder, Randy Crews, and Roger Williamson. Born May 18, 1942 in Sylacauga, Alabama, Mr. Owings was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army and had lived in Hogansville since 1965. He was a grad- uate of Auburn University, retired as a department manager for Uniroyal, Inc. after thirty years of service, and had attended the Courts of Praise in LaGrange. He was a member of Hogansville American Legion Post 152 and the Troup County Senior Center. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Stephanie Owings of Huntsville, Alabama and Jeff and Annette Owings of Warner Robins; his mother, Annie Bishop of Sylacauga; one sister, Janice Coffey of Moulton, Alabama; five brothers, Wayne Owings and Jack Owings, both of Birmingham, Bobby Owings of Phenix City, Ala., Billy Owings of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Calvin Owings of Sylacauga; and two grandchildren. Miss Hope Terrell, 98, of Greenville, died May 10th at Alvista Care Home in Greenville. The funeral service was con- ducted May 13th at the Greenville Baptist Church. The Reverend Jonathan Porter officiated and interment was in the Greenville Cemetery. Miss Terrell was born November 8, 1904 in Greenville, daughter of the late Judge James Render Terrell and the late Mamie Harrison Terrell. A lifelong res- ident of Greenville, she was a graduate of Brenau College in Gainesville and was a longtime music teacher and church musician in Greenville. Miss Terrell was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church and was a niece of the late Joseph Meriwether Terrell, a for- mer Governor of Georgia and United States Senator from Georgia. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Jessie Terrell Doughtie of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Mamie Terrell Bellah and Mrs. Paula Terrell Stanley, and brothers, Joel Hood Terrell and James Render Terrell, both former members of the Georgia legis- lature. Contributions in memory of Miss Terrell may be made to the Greenville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 458, Greenville, 30222. The Claude A.
