PAGE 10-A HOGANSVILLE HOME NEWS - THURSDAY MAY 30 2002 School Board Fills Posi " By Frances Robinson A SUNDAY AFTERNOON RIDE - As summer approaches, the warm weather causes the adrenaline to flow! Pike Shiekee and Tiffany Costley (on the horses) along with Todd Costley, Danielle Costley and Ericka Langford (in the buggy) take an afternoon ride on the Blue Creek Road. Arts, Athletic Ground Breaking Held building. The new athletic complex will face the tennis courts in back of the building and will be located adjacent to the football practice field. It will consist of a weight room, training room, locker rooms for boys and girls and coaches offices. Both of these facilities are being built with SPLOST funds. Ground breaking was held on Friday, May 24th for the Troup County High School Fine Arts Center and Athletic Complex. The Fine Arts Center will consist of a 765 seat audito- rium, with dressing rooms, a construction area for props and an orchestra pit. The facility will be built to the left of the main entrance facing the front of the "IYoup High Waldrop Twins Graduate From Medical School By Patti Phillips Devin and Kevin Waldrop graduated May 18th from St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Missouri. Devin graduated Summa Cum Laude. Kevin graduated Magna Cum I_aude. Devin will do his residency and intern in Diagnostic Radiology at University of illinois St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Kevin will do his residency and intern at University of Mississippi Medical School in Jackson, Mississippi, also in Diagnostic Radiology. Devin and Kevin Waldrop are also members of Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society. They are the twin sons of Phil and Mary Waldrop of t Iogansville. l I DID IT- Donna Marie Broach graduated from West Georgia Christian Academy on May 25, 2002 in LaGrange. Donna was the Valedictorian and graduated with honors. She is the daughter of Donald and Rhonda Broach of Grantville and the granddaughter of Bobbie Mason of Hogansville. She has two sisters, Unda and Brenda Broach. Students Make Dean's List The following local resi- dents made the Dean's List for spring semester 2002 at the Georgia Institute of Technology: Amelia Christina* Cipolla, and Constance Maloof Mansour, both of LaGrange. Undergraduate students earning a 3.00 or higher aca- demic average for the semes- ter gain the distinction of being named to the Dean's List at Georgia Tech. P1 00BLIC HEARING The City of Hogansville will hold a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 3rd at City Hall, 400 East Main Street to give the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed Comprehensive Plan as amended and updated. For more information call In a called meeting Thursday evening, the IYoup Counff Board of Education announced the following appointments: Greg Denny has been named Chief Financial replace Del Parker who left to take a similar position Muscogee County. Mr. Denny is currently the Chief Financial Officer the Carroll County Board of Education, a position he has held since September 2001. Prior to that time, he worked for the Georgia Department of Audit. Sequita Freeman, a native of Troup County has been named principal of Mountville Elementary School to re Dr. Judy Anderson, who is retiring. Mrs. Freeman currently serves as Instructional at Hollis Hand Elementary School, a position she also at Cannon Street Elementary School. She formerly taught at Berta Weathersbee School and Gardner Newman Middle School. A graduate of LaGrange High School and College she received her advanced degrees College and The State University of West Georgia. Bretley Bryant, a former teacher at Long Elementary School has been named at Mountville Elementary School. He most recently worked as an assistant principal at Elementary School in Harris County.
