Brenda Dianne Dini
December 3, 1943 - June 29, 2003
Brenda Dianne Dini, 59, of Smyrna, died on Sunday, June
29, 2003 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 2, 2003
at 2:00 p.m. at Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Homes, Inc in
Woodbury with Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating.
Mrs. Dini was born on December 3, 1943 in Rash County,
North Carolina the daughter of the late Joseph Elmer Lee
Lane and Martha Louise Jones Lane. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Ronald Dini of
Smyrna; two sons, Kevin Dini (Jack Douglas) of Austin, Texas
and Michael Dini (Mary) of Cartersville; one brother, Joe
Lane of Hogansville; and two grandsons, Adam and Stephen
Dini.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Joseph's
Auxiliary c/o or Saint Joseph Hospital, Atlanta.
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Dozier
June 25, 2003
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Dozier, 68, of Hogansville died
Wednesday, June 25, 2003.
Funeral services were held July 1, 2003 at 1:00 PM at the
St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Hogansville. Rev. J.C. Tale and
Bishop J.H. Morton officiated and interment followed in the
church cemetery.
Arrangements were held by Thrash and Sons Funeral
Home 117 West Main St. Hogansville 706-637-8791.
Ben L. Caldwell
October 26, 1917 - June 24, 2003
Ben L. Caldwell, 85, of the Rocky Mount Community of
Meriwether County died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at his home.
The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday,
June 26, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons
Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Wayne Settle
and the Rev. Stanley Rogers officiated and interment was in
the Caldwell Family Cemetery in Rocky Mount.
Pallbearers were Larry Caldwell, Ronald Caldwell, Barry
McCoy, Bruce McCoy, Bobby Braswell, Edward Argroves,
and Hugh O'Neal.
Mr. Caldwell was born on October 26, 1917, in Meriwether
County, son of the late William and Claudie Owens Caldwell.
A lifelong resident of Meriwether County, he was a U.S. Navy
veteran of WWII and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist
Church. He retired from The Little White House in Warm
Springs.
Survivors include one son, Bill Caldwell of Rocky Mount;
four daughters and their husbands, Sarah Braswell, Mollie
and Phillip McDonald, and Diane and Eddie Cochran, all of
Rocky Mount and Linda and Tony Braswell of Starr, S.C.; one
brother, Claude Caldwell of Rocky Mount; two sisters, Mae
Argroves of Gay and Faye Jackson of Moreland; fourteen
grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
Leila Mae Gates
June 23, 2003
Ms. Leila Mae Gates, age 40 of Newnan, died at the
Newnan Hospital West on Monday, June 23, 2003. A funeral
service was held at the Springfield Baptist Church in
Greenville at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 29, officiated by Rev.
J.D. Daniel and Rev. George Prather.
Ms. Gates was survived by her mother, Mrs. Lillie Brown
Gates of Luthersville; son Mr. Donquerious Mahone of
Newnan, and daughter Ms. Lakellia Benning also of Newnan,
daughter Mrs. Christy Gates Daniel (Edward Daniel III) of
Hogansville; three sisters, Mary Gates of LaGrange, Ms.
Shirley Gates of Hogansville, and Mrs. Reva Gates
Meriwether (Sean) of Luthersville; several aunts and uncles,
a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives who truly loved
her.
Condolences may be offered at the home of her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Christy Gates Daniel at 7030 Loneoak Roak,
Hogansville.
To everyone who thought about us, prayed about us, sent
cards, flowers or food or just called or stopped by, we thank
you.
Adrian would have been proud to see such an out-pour-
ing of love and kindness for us in his memory. I know he is
in heaven now and is in no more pain. I just want to thank
you for helping to ease some of ours. May God bless you!
