Rainey was born October 21, 1951, in LaGrange, and lived in County most of her life. She was a member of Allen-Lee Methodist Church in Lone Oak and was preceded in Arthur W. Mr. Betts was born April 30, 1923, in I.ee County, Alabama, son of the late William and Ida Plant Betts. He had lived in Troup County most of his life and was a member of HarrisonviUe Baptist Church. He retired from Southern Bell, and was a member of the,Telephone Pioneers and the BB Hunting Club. He received a Purple Heart for his service as an Army paratrooper in Normandy in World War II and was held as a pris- oner of war for eleven months. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vivian Betts of HarrisonviUe, one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Johnny Harris of Harrisonville; one son and daughter-in-law; Bobby and Diane Betts of Jonesboro; two sis- ters, Mrs. Odessa Kent of Hogansville and Mrs. Alice Hammonds of Walnut Grove; four grandchildren, Joel Betts and Jeremy Betts of Jonesboro, Miss Amanda Harris and Miss Katie Harris of HarrisonviUe; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mrs. Kathryn Christian of Huntsville, Alabama. Mrs. Miriam June Ambrose June 6, 1940 - July 9, 2000 Hogansville - Mrs. Miriam June Mixon (Kim) Ambrose, 60, of Hogansville, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at Hospice LaGrange. The funeral service will conducted at ten a.m., Thursday, July 13, at Sanders United Methodist Church in Calvin, Louisiana. The Reverend Glenn Daniel will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ambrose was born June 6, 1940, in Newellton, Louisiana, daugh- ter of the late Russell Carson Mixon and the late Edith Ann Liggett Mixon. She was a member of the Church of God and had lived in HogansviUe for the past fifteen years. She was employed as a sales assistant and mar- keting director for Wachovia Interstate/Johnson-Lane Investment Company in LaGrane. Survivors include her husband, Ben T. Ambrose, Jr. of Hogansville; one daughter, Mrs. Corin Higgins of Diamond Head, Miss; one son, Benjamin Thomas Ambrose III of Cordele; one sister, Mrs. Teresa Shumake of Winnfield, La.; five brothers, Mickey Mixon of Picayune, Miss. Russell Mixon and Robert Mixon, both of Lake Charles, La., John L Mixon of Winnfield, La., and Robert Rovira of Angie, La.; two grand- children; and one great grandchild. Flowers should be delivered to Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kathryn John Ward September 7, 1933 - July 8, 2000 Marks Community - Mrs. Kathryn Joan Ward, 66, of the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at her home. The funeral service was conducted at eleven a.m., Monday, July 10, at the Greenville Baptist Church.The Reverend Jonathan Porter and the Reverend Ron Capes officiated and interment was in the Greenville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tommy Baker, Harold Shelton, Barry Murl)hs', James Lawrence, Cy A. Gasses, and B Argroves. Mrs. Ward was born September 7, 1933, in Chipley, ˘lauhtuJ' , the late Lovie and Beulah McKenzie Baker.
