casting brought gales of
laughter. With an assistant
from the audience, Ashley
Beilen, Cliff put three
scarves, one red, one blue and
one white into a magic bag.
As Ashley waved the magic
wand over it, all the children
said. the magic words, "Read
and Succeed." then Cliff
pulled an American flag out
of the bag. As a reward for
his assistant, Cliff made her
a pink heart with two yellow
doves perched on it out of bal-
loons. He introduced every-
one to Frizzy Hare, who is a
large furry rabbit. Frizzy told
the children he was a cousin
of Br'er Rabbit and that he
was having a bad "hare" day.
He said he had a girlfriend
named Harriet who was a
hairdresser at O'Hare
Airport and he had given her
a ring. Silly Cliff thought it
was a diamond ring but Frizzy
set him straight. It was a
three-carrot ring. Frizzy told
how much he loves gardens,
although to him they were
more like a salad bar. He
grows carrots to eat in his
garden and even though he
doesn't eat onions, he grows
them too. He said he grows
the onions to keep the ele-
phants out of his garden. Cliff
said he has never seen ele-
phants in the garden. So,
Frizzytold everyone to take
a tip from him and plant
onions to keep those pesky
elephants away.
Another assistant from
the audience was Marquis
Cosby, who helped Cliff with
the ancient Chinese ring
tricks. Cliff magically inter-
locked and separated the
rings to the amazement of
everyone. Marquis received
a balloon helmet as his
reward for helping. Cliff then
made one of the most diffi-
cult of the balloon animals to
make - a wiener-dog out of a
long brown balloon. But it
took some imagination to tell
it was a wiener-dog because
it looked like a long brown
balloon filled with air. But
Cliff proved it was when the
balloon wiener dog did tricks;
it rolled over and when he told
it to play dead, the balloon
popped causing everyone to
jump. Cliff introduced every-
one to Skeeter, who is a boy
who loves to give Cliff a hard
time. Skeeter sang some silly
songs and did an impression
of an echo in the Grand
Canyon. Skeeter had the
whole room laughing as he
got the best of Cliff when he
beat him over the head with
a big round balloon. Everyone
had lots of laughs and each
child l:eceived a Pokemon
pencil sharpener (compli-
ments of Wal-Mart) and a
world .wide .reading@yourli-
