Vietnam Veteran, Volunteer Coach
Mr. Ralph Moon, Jr., 54, of Hogansville, died Sunday,
August 3, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
The funeral service was conducted at two p.m.,
Wednesday, August 6, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben
and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Gene
Craft officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery
in Hogansville.
Born November 23, 1948, in Atlanta, Mr. Moon had lived
in Hogansville since 1994. He was a U.S.Army veteran of
the Vietnam Conflict, was a member of Veterans of Foreign
Wars, was a member of the Baptist church, and was employed
as a carpenter. For many years, he served as a volunteer
coach for youth football and basketball in DeKalb County.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Christina
Moon and Jose Cobos of Pensacola, FL., and Erin Hamrick
of McDonough; his mother, Movene Sheets Moon of
Alpharetta; and s sister Linda Newsom also of Alpharetta.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Ralph Moon,
and a brother, Donald L. Moon.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
