Troup to Host
Series in 2003
The Troup County Parks
& Recreation Commission
has been chosen to host the
2004 13- and 14-year-old-
Dixie Boys World Series at
the new Troup County
Baseball Complex, even the
though the facility is yet to
be constructed.
Parks & Recreation
Director Tod Tenfler recent-
ly submitted a bid for the
tournament during this
year's World Series, held in
Euless, Texas.
"It is very unusual that
an event of this type would
be awarded to a community
that did not have a facility
already in place."
"However, even with fac-
tors such as inclement weath-
er, we are confident the new
baseball complex will be
completed well ahead of the
scheduled date for the tour-
nament," said Tentler.
Jamaica
"Needs Bibles"
Few people are aware
that there is a need for Bibles
in Jamaica. There are some
folks there that are crying out
for God's word. The "Lord's
Place," Thrift Store in
Grantville, Ga. is answering
the call. We are going to be
sending Bibles and school
supplies to Jamaica.
Will you help us? Your
donation of $5 (five dollars)
sends a nice presentation
Bible to someone in Jamaica.
(We wil[put your name in each
Bible that you send if you
would like us to do so. Please
let us know when you made
your donation.) This is prob-
ably the best five dollars that
you will ever spend.
Only God knows how
many lives will be changed
because you cared. Ten dol-
lars will help send school sup-
plies to Jamaica also. We
have missionaries in Jamaica
that are ready to distribute the
materials, which we send. You
may donate at the thrift store
or by mail. Please make all
checks payable to Missions -
Bibles to Jamaica. Specify if
you want your donation to go
for Bibles or school supplies
or both.
May God continue to
bless you is our prayer.

Science Camp Dazzles Students
Students attending the
"Harry Potter Science
Camp" at Greenville Middle
School this summer discov-
ered that u,:izar ds use science.
Using a nvel approach to
interest students in science,
camp instructors planned
activities which were based
on real science concepts
found in the Harry Potter
book and movie series.
Camp instructors spent
two days in early June at
GYSTC in Newnan in train-
hag, planning, and preparing
for the camp. The camp was
held during the week of June
24-28 and was open, free of
charge, to all students who
would be entering grades
three-five in the fall. Thirty
students attended the five
day camp. The cost of instruc-
tion and supplies was covered
by the Meriwether County
School System. Camp
instructors were Melvina
Crawl, Crystal Neal,
Jacqueline Dyal and Kathy
Grier.
Camps are held every
summer in sev6ral West
Central Georgia counties.
