Thomas W. Flournoy
East Newnan Baptist Church Member
Thomas W. Flournoy, age 67, of Luthersville, died Sunday,
August 24, 2003, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
The funeral service was conducted at two p.m., Tuesday,
August 26, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons
Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Clarence Denney
officiated and interment was in the Luthersville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Hill, Ricky Ford, Carlton Jones,
Irvin O'Neal, Charles Whitten, and Gary Spratlin.
Mr. Flournoy was born June 12,1936 in Meriwether County.
He was a resident of Meriwether County most of his life, was
a member of East Newnan Baptist Church, and retired as a
mechanic from a.O. Barber Lumber Company in Luthersville.
Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Jackie Whitten Flournoy;
one daughter, Miss Doris Ylournoy; a grandson, Blake Spratlin;
his mother, Mrs. Lucille Flournoy Braswell, all of Luthersville;
four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Spivey of Hogansville, Mrs. Sara
O'Neal of Alvaton, Ms. Mac Barber of LuthersviUe, and Mrs.
Gladys Bishop of Newnan; and four brothers, Hubert Flournoy
and Bobby Flournoy, both of Newnan, Charles Flournoy of
Luthersville, and Billy Flournoy of Moreland.

Thelma G. Brown
Great-Grandmother, Former Seamstress
Thelma G. Brown, age 92, of the Lone Oak Community
of Meriwether County, died Friday, August 22, 2003 at Hospice
IaGrange.
The funeral service was conducted at p.m. Sunday, August
24, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral
Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Richard Campbell and Dr.
Bob Atkins officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill
Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers were Jamie Turner, Eric Burke, Jason Ritter,
Tim Daniel, Jack Parker, Don Welborn, Curtis McNeely, Chris
McNeely, and John Weiher.
Mrs. Brown was born August 8, 1911 in Heard County,
daughter of the late William and Fannie Lou Harris Gladney.
She lived in HogansviIle most of her life, retired from
Economy Auto Store in Hogansville, and served as a seam-
stress for the public. She was a member of Highland Baptist
Church in Hogansville and was the wife of the late Melvin
C. Brown.
Survivors include thrce daughters and their husbands,
Betty and Alfred Daniel of Lone Oak, Frankie McNeely of
Gainesville, and Anne and Danny Burke of Hogansville; eight
grandchildren, Peggy Parker, Tim Daniel, Curtis McNeely,
Chris McNeely, Elizabeth Welborn, Jamie Turner, LeAnne
Turner, and Eric Burke; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Dr., Columbus, GA 31906-2800.

Martha O. Kirk
Beloved Great-Grandmother
Martha O. Kirk, age 90, of LaGrange, beloved mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Monday, August
25, 2003, at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center in
Newnan.
Ms. Kirk was born December 8, 1912, in New{on County,
daughter of the late Issac Hays Kirk and the late Hattie
Hollifield Kirk. She lived in LaGrange for eighteen ydars
and was a member of the First Assembly of God in LaGrange.
A former resident of Hapeville, she retired from Morrison's
Cafeterias and was a former member of the First Baptist
Church of Hapeville, where she kept the nursery for many
years.
The funeral service was conducted Wednesday, August
27 at the graveside in Restlawn Memory Gardens in laGrange.
The Rev. Mac Cartwright officiated.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Nesbitt of
Newnan; a granddaughter and grandson-fn-law, Marty and
Leo Hohmann of Grantville; a grandson, Tom Nesbitt of
Newnan; and two great-grandchildren, Joel Hohmann and
Lily Hohmann, both of Grantville. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by a sister, Nannie Snipes, and a
brother, Henry H. Kirk.

Raehael C. Pitts
Sunday School Teacher, Church Volunteer
Rachael Cochran Pitts, 77, of Newnan, died Friday,
August 22, at Pointe Magnolia in Newnan.
The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, August
24, at the First United Methodist Church of Grantville. The
Rev. Darris Baker, Rev. Glenn Vogel, and Dr. Bob Martin offi-
ciated and interment was in the Grantville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Pitts, Mark Cochran, Carl
Cochran, Jr., Cerry Cochran, Mike Madison, and Kevin Feil.
Mrs. Pitts was born February 22, 1926, in Hogansville,
daughter of the late Lucious and Pearl Parks Cochran. A for-
mer resident of Atlanta and a former member and Sunday
school teacher at Inman Park United Methodist Church, she
lived in Plantation, Florida for 25 years before making her
home in Newnan in 1997. She was employed as an executive
secretary, was a lifetime member of W.S.C.S., and was always
an active church volunteer.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl
and Jerry Hicks of Peachtree City; two sons and daughters-
in-law, Ronald and Susan Pitts of
Margie Pitts of Gulf Breeze, FL.;
Carl and Barbara Cochran of Douglasville and Marion
Mary Cochran of Ellenwood; four grandchildren, Kevinl
Kimberly and Mike Madison, Cassie Pitts, and Cochran P
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
husband, Charlie Eugene Pitts, and three brothers
Harold, and Ralph Cochran.
