PAGE 10-A HOGANSVILLE HOME NEWS - THURSDAY, SEVI&apos;. 4, 2003 Hogansville Class (if '73 Holds Reunion on Cruise The Hogansville High School Class of 1973 held their 30th reunion by taking a Carnival Fantasy Cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, August 20-24. Those attending were Steve & Vickie Spradlin and Mark Brock, all of Hogansville; Jimmy Hartman of McDonough, B.L.; Kathy & Ian of Greenville; and Betty Dodson of LaGrange and friend Mark Carpenter of Cumming. Come one, come all! Friends and relatives of Ms. Ruby Hendrix. Help us celebrate her 90th birthday September 7 held at Georgia Baptist Nursing Home Conference Room (downstairs) from 2 - 4 p.m. Known to many as Mama Ruby. We will be happy to see her friends and relatives come by for refreshments and a celebration of this won- derful event. In lieu of gifts, please send or bring cards to Georgia Baptist Nursing Home, Ruby Hendrix Room 16A, Warm Springs, GA 31830. The celebration will be given by her children, Jeanette Lee, Phil Gordon, Barbara Watford and Kay Smith. Deacon of the week is Kenneth Dial. Remember the sick and shut-ins in prayer. Our christian sympathy is extended to the families of William "Bill" Holloway and Martha O/Kirk at their recent deaths. We had the Ordinance of Baptism Sunday morning, August 31, of Gina Wilder and Casey McWhorter. At the end of the service Rev. Harold Willes, pastor, presented both of them a Certificate of Baptism. The Adult Choir special music morning was "I Put My Trust in the Ird". They were one of the choirs who sang at the fifth Sunday night song service at Highland Baptist Church. Refreshments were served after the song service. Dr. Joe Tanner of Villa Rica preached for us Sunday morning. We were happy to have him and his wife, Gail, with us. Dr. Tanner is a grad- uate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Tanner has 37 years of experience as a pas- tor of 11 churches, made 15 foreign mission trips and eight Builders for Christ trips. Dr. Tanner and our pas- tin, Rev. Willis, have been friends for 30 years. Mrs. Pearl Willis of Waycross spent the weekend with Rev. & Mrs. Harold Willis. We were happy to have her attend S.S. And worship services with us on Sunday. We had our monthly Family Night covered dish supper, Men's MinistrY, etc. at our church last night, September 3. Our youth group will be attending a concert Friday night, September 5, at Cascade Hills Baptist Church in Columbus. Call Beth Maxwell for more informa- tion. AWANA begins its third year at out church Sunday, September 7 at a new time of 5-7 p.m., and new command- er, Beth Maxwell, who is replacing Ken Hines, who held the position for two years. Beginning September 7, our evening worship service begins at 7:15 p.m. so that AWANA leaders and club- bers may attend. Happy Grandparents Day, September 7! Helen Stephens, Eris Barrow and Jean Crocker joined the VSP Travelers Group form LaGrange on August 15 for a 7 day cruise and 5 day land trip to Alaska. Many ports and points of interest were visited along the way. A wonderful time was had by all 43 passengers, Happy Birthday in September to Mavis Garrett on the 2nd, Beverly Rhodes (a special happy birthday wish to my sister) on the 7th, Bob Tillman on the lOth, Frank Crawford and Alvin Irvin on the 22nd, Mary Jo Keith on the 29th and Sadie Hines on the 30th. Happy Wedding Anniversary in September to M/M Ihb Chaffin on the 1st, M/M Huell Stephens on the 2nd, and M/M Bill Davis on the 26th.
