Ralph L. Cochran, 79, of Fayetteville and Covington, died
eptember 27 at his home in Fayetteville.
The funeral service was conducted September 29 in the
hapel o[ the Ckmde A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home
m t togans', ille.
Mr. J.T. Reeves officiated and interment was in Myrtle
i iill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers were Jy Mericle, damie Wise, Matt Cochran,
Ken Cochran, Randy Owen, Dan Vickers, Adam Chastain and
Jeremy Chastain.
Mr. (ochrall was born August 24, 1923 in Meriwether
{ otmty son of the late Luclous and Pearl Parks Cochran. He
.,evved in the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to World War
/ I atld was an AI'Ill} veteran of World War II.
He lived in the Atlanta area for many years, retired from
he City of Atlanta Fire Department after 27 years of serv-
ice, and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in
Ri. ccd;Ue.

Grantville, died September 26 at Crawford Long Hospital in
Atlanta. The funeral ser ice was conda, kcted September 28
in the Chapel of the :laude A. McKibbefi aad Sons Funeral
Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jimmie Willis and the
Reverend [₯ank Powers officiated and interment was in Oak
Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Pallbearers were Jacob Kee, Robert Allen, Andy Winkles,
Earl Ix)wry, Mike Powers and William Powers.
Mrs. Pouers was b(n'n 5 lay 27, 1914 in Meriwether County,
daughter of the late Barney and Dallas Denney Malcom.
A resident of Grantville most of her life, she retired from
Grantvflle Mills and was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Grantville, where she taught the Beginner Sunday School
class for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Mike Powers
of Grantville; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Burks of Grantville,
Mrs. Eva Allen of Newnan and formerly of Grantville, and
Mrs. Edna West of Carrollton: and a number of nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce
Powers.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
Loy M. Shaw
May 16, 1934 - September 30, 2002
lay M. Shaw, 68, of Grantville, died September 30 at his
home. The funeral service was conducted October 2 in the
Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home
in Hogansville.
The Reverend Charlie Bolt officiated and interment was
in Potash Church of God Cemetery in Randolph County, Ala.
Pallbearers were Allen Shaw, Clinton Gadd), Danny
Hammett, Ricky Smith, Jr., Steve Harrington, Mac Childers
and Chad Swick
Ml: Shaw was bon May 16, 1954 in Heard County, son of
the late James Carlis Shaw and the late Lottie Hammond
Shaw.
He was a formcc resident of Troup County and was a
member of the Assembly of (;od
Survivors include two daughters, Vera Shaw of Roanoke,
Ala. and Darlene Rogers of Grantville; one son, Danny Joe
Shaw of laGrange; four sisters, Joyce Hammond of Duncan,
S.C., Jeanette Bailey of I,aGrange, Myrtle Crenshaw of
Roanoke, Ala., and Frances (;addy of Hogansville; three
brothers, Floyd Shaw and Billy Shaw, both of LaGrange, and
J.D. Shaw of Clanton, Ala.: eight grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Merl
