has helped Hogansville city
government write and sub-
mit a series of federal grants
for nearly a half million of
civic improvements, first and
foremost being the renova-
tion of the Royal Theater
(Hogansvitle's City Hall).
Work on the theater will begin
this fall. Profits raised dur-
ing the festival go toward the
theater renovation and
required matching funds for
the grants.
Hummingbird Festival
chairman Bill Stankiewicz
says, "The festival is going to
be bigger and better than last
year. We should top last year's
attendance record of nearly
5,000 people. And the food,
arts and crafts booth applica-
tions are already coming in
and almost equal last year's
total (number of booths).
Interested parties need to
contact Mary Stewart quick-
ly to get spaces. Mary can be
reached by phone at (706) 637-

gentlemen and ladies from
the period win also take part
in the activities. Thanks to the
Victoria Belle's sponsorship,
admission to the encamp-
ment is free.
The Browns are also spon-
soring Rambunctious, an
Atlanta band noted for their
variety of musical styles. The
band will play at numerous
times during the festival.
The old time values of
small town America will also
call the festival home. The
Hogansville Girl Scouts will
collect for disaster relief and
the Hogansville alumni,
whose class reunion was such
a wonderful part of last year's
festival ("Main Street was
one big hug"), is having a
homecoming and dance.
The festival, held this
year on October 20th and 21 st
and billed as an Arts and
Crafts and Family Fun
Extravaganza, raises money
