Rufus Amey September 29, 2001 GREENVILLE - Rufus Amey of Greenville died September 29 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Amey, a native of Meriwether County, was the son of the late Hugh Alvin and Sallie Reeves Amey. He was a mem- ber of Fellowship Baptist Church in Greenville. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Amey; six sons and their spouses, John and Bertha Amey of Senoia, William and Norsa Amey of Atlanta, Glen and Carolyn Amey of Greenville, Curtis and Mary Amey of Moreland, Randy and Dacia Amey of Atlanta and Timmy and Nikki Amey of Loxley, Alabama: two daughters and a son-in-law, Annella and Bernard Clark of Atlanta and Valeria Amey of Greenville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward and Mary Frances Amey of Hogansville and Wilson Amey of Lone Oak; a sister and broth- er-in-law, Willie Mac and Zanuel Parks of Luthersville: sev- eral grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs Grace L Short December 9, 1916 - October 4, 2001 GREENVILLE - Mrs. Grace Lunsford Short, 84, of Greenville, died October 4 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. The funeral service was conducted October 8 at the graveside in the Greenville Cemetery with the Reverend Jonathan Porter officiating. Mrs. Short was born December 9, 1916 in Troup County, daughter of the late Walter and Roxie Davis Lunsford. She lived in Greenville most of her life, was a member of Greenville Baptist Church, and retired from the A.S.C.S. office in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her hus- band, Wilhe V. Short, and her daughter, Carolyn Short Joslin. Survivors include three grandchildren, Grace and Victor Saias of Lake Worth, Florida, Mary'Margaret Joslin of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Ralph and Trisha Joslin of Jefferson, Ohio; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Laura Jean Lunsford of Loxahatchee, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Powers was born July 31, 1923 m Roanoke, Alabama, daughter of the late John Wesley Smith and the late Lois Bishop Smith. She had lived m Hogansville since 1936, was a retired beautician, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. She was preceded in death by a sis- ter, Anna Ruth Hester. Survivors include one sister, Tina Smith Newton of Charleston, South Carolina; one brother, John Bunyan Smith of Paradise, California: and several nieces and nephews. The Claude A. Edward deter December 27, 1927 - October 7, 2001 HOGANSVILLE - Edward deter, 73, of Hogansville, died October 7 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. The memorial service was conducted October 10 in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend James Calhoun and the Reverend David Craven officiated. Mr. deter was born December 27, 1927 in Troup County, son of the late Wilbur Vanburen and Metta Mae Turner deter. He lived in Hogansville all of his life, was a member of Trinity Worship Center of Hogansville, and was retired from Uniroyal. He was preceded in death by a son, Eddie deter. Survivors include his wife, Betty Hay deter; one daugh- ter and son-in-law, Elaine and Vandy Vandiver; one son and daughter-in-law, Van and Traci deter, all of Hogansville; one sistel; Dorothy Oliver of Wmsboro, South Carolina; six grand- children, Holly Vandiver, Heather Vandiver, Scott deter, Stacy deter; Matthew deter, and Bailey deter; and one great-grand- child. Work Session On Parenting Set Tonight On October 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Greenville High Auditorium, the Morehouse Talbot/Meriwether Counties Upward Bound Program, is beginning the first of a series of parent workshops. The topic to be addressed is "Why is it that parents should be honored?"
