Michael Bailey was diagnosed with this dreadful disease in 1991. Since then, it's all been downhill for him, his mother, Renea Barley told the Hogansvilie Home News last week. He is confined to a wheelchair all the time. "He has no mobility with his body at all," she said, "except for his brain." Mrs. Bailey. said his family, which includes his father John, and two brothers, Greg, 17 and Randy, 9, help him do every- thing including brushing his teeth and feed- ing him. Michael, who loves going to school, attends Callaway High school and has his own personal aid, pro wrestler Chic Donnavan. Donnavan does Michael's writing at school as well as everything else that needs to be done. Mrs. Bailey said Michael puts his all into studying so he can make good grades, He also enjoys raising money for Muscular Dystrophy Association says every dollar raised brings us closer t a cure. Every year for the past nine years, Bailey family has raised more than annually for the Jerry Lewis Labor Telethon. He also works with other fun such as the LaGrange Jail-Lockup raised more than $30,000 this year. Mrs. Bailey said the MDA is er family -- they are there to help thing, whether it is good or bad. Michael also looks forward to the MDA's Summer Cam[ Georgia. "Michael gets to be like everyone during the one week he is at camp the summer," Mrs. Bailey said. At camp, he enjoys fishing, riding, arts and crafts, water gun and just seeing friends. The camp, like the doctor visits and annual flu shots, are paid for by MDA. Michael hopes by selling Shamrocks dollar he helps raise might be the doll will find the cure for the disease.
