HOGANSVILLE HOME NEWS - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2009
The Lord is really making
things happen at Family
Worship center.
While we are still small
in number we are growing
more and more everyday. He
is really using us to do work
for his kingdom and we
would love to have you be a
part of this with us. God
needs us all and most impor-
tantly he loves us all.
Sister Sherry Calhoun
has experienced some pain
in her life recently. She lost
her brother Larry and her
sister Judy in a week, and
Pastor James Calhoun lost
his aunt Margaret Bishop.
Sister Sherry has kept her
faith though and the Lord has
been bringing her through
it. Sister Sherry, know that
we love you and if there is
anything any of us can do to
just ask.
Special prayer requests
go out to Brother Johnnie
Williamson who has been in
the hospital.
Sunday evening service
was exceptional. Brother
James preached a most won-
derful service about how the
Lord will always take you
Christmas dinner at the Lone
Oak Community Center.
And on Dec. 21, our youth
will be traveling to Callaway
Gardens for the Fantasy in
Lights tour.
Keep all of these events
in your prayers so that they
will be anointed by the Lord.
AS ALWAYS we would
like to extend an invitation
back into the fold even if you' for you to join us. Sunday
walk away and we had three
souls get saved. God is so
good to us.
ON SUNDAY morning,
Dec. 13, we will be having
our communion service fol-
lowing Morning Service.
Then, on Dec. 19, at 6
p.m., we will be having our
school begins at 10 a.m.,
Morning Worship Service
follows at 10:45 a.m. and
Evening Worship is at 6 p.m.
Wednesday evening
service begins at 7 p.m.
The Family Worship
Center is located at 515
Industrial in Hogansville.
HANGING OFTHE GREEN AT HIGHLAND
- Chris and Lisa Boyd light candles symbol-
ized the Light of Jesus during the "Hanging
of the Green" at Highland Baptist Church.
Held on Sunday, Nov. 29, during the Morning
Worship Service, the ceremony has become
a tradition at Highland and is one that every-
one enjoys. The ceremony is filled with
Christmas carols welcoming the birth of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Members of
the congregation read explanations of each
step of the ceremony as decorations are
placed throughout the sanctuary. Wreaths
of evergreen .are hung in the front of the
sanctuary symbolizing the Christ who is ever-
lasting, eternally the same. Garland is hung
in the choir loft and balcony reminding usto
be a witness in the world we live in. Bells
are hung in the windows as a symbol of the
Good News of Jesus as they ring forth invit-
ing people to His church and into HisTruth and
Light. Lighted candles in the front of the sanc-
tuary signal to all who see the Light of Jesus
still shines in our hearts and in the world.
Poinsettias are placed in the front of the
church calling us to celebrate in the place
where we worship and remind us to be a
witness by word and deed.
