Escape ] Inmate Found Hiding Inside Closet
An inmate being held on Violation of Probation and Theft
charges escaped from the Meriwether County Detention
Center on Monday, December 3rd.
Sheriff Steve Whitlock r'eporled Eugene Lamar Mitchell,
20, of 82A Gay Road, Greenville, escaped when a Detention
Officer became distracted by other inmates while on the
exercise yard. Reports indicated Mitchell climbed a fence
which led to the roof of the Detention Center.
On Wednesday, agents with the Georgia Bureau of
Investigation, Georgia Department of Corrections Aviation
Unit and Canine Unit. Georgia State Patrol, Pike County
Sheriff's Office and Meriwether Cour Sheriff's Office
received information that Mitchell could beg'iDeated at a home
in Concord. \\;
