DOUBLE D~ - Santa Claus, bearing a strong resemblance to Sanford Colquitt, is
serving Warm Spdngs folks with holiday surprises as well as mail.
Hark, the Postal Angels Bring...
Residents Witness Santa Delivering Mail, Surprises
Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus...and
he not only brings presents on Christmas
morning to good little girls and boys, but he
also helps good mailmen deliver and pick
up mail...on special occasions.
To the surprise and excitement of many
children, and adults as well, on Dec. 4, the
mail on the rural route in Warm Springs was
delivered by jolly old Saint Nicholas him-
self.
This is a custom that Santa began sev-
eral years ago, as it helps him observe the
location of all the children in the area.
The actual mail carrier, Sanford Colquitt,
recruited Santa, after much bargaining and
promises to also help Santa out with his busy
schedule.
Mailman Colquitt also supplies a box of
money, which he collects throughout the
year from stamp sales, to let the children
dip in and keep all the money that one little
hand can hold.
There is also fruit and candy for all who
would like to partake.
So if you missed this momentous event,
here are some photos for you to enjoy from
this special day.
Remember, this is an annual event, and
STARTING THE DAY - San4ord Claus
gets his regular mail and surprises ready. ::
Santa will again be delivering mail one day ~!
next Christmas Season. So tell your.friends :
and plan now not to miss it.
