Request for Proposals for WIA Youth Services The West Central Georgia Workforce Investment Board (WCGWlB) announces a Request for Proposals from agencies interested it/serving economically disadvantaged youth. The WCGWIB will make approximate- ly $500,000 available for dropout recovery, youth development services, and occupational training services to be provided for the West Central Georgia Region IV Workforce Area. Dropout Recovery Projects are to return dropouts to a learning environment to attain a high school diploma or GED. The projects will include instruction leading to the GED or diploma, employ- ability skills training, development of work maturity skills through work expe- rience or subsidized employment. Work experience may be a component of this project. It is expected that 60-90 youth 16-21 years of age may be served. Approximate funding available is $100,000. Occupational Skills Projects will serve older youth 18-21 years of age in occupational skills training. It is estimated that approximately 60-80 youth will be served. Approximate funding is $200,000. Youth development services are designed for in school youth 14-18 years of age. Projects Will operate within the context of the Workforce Investment Board Youth Corps model. Approximately $200,000 is available for this component. Projects should be ready to operate from March 1, 2004 until June 30, 2005 with extension depending on performance and funding availability. All projects must address the ten required elements for youth programs as given in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Interested parties may a bidder's package in writing from Youth Services, P.O.
