HOGANSVILLE HOME NEWS - THURSDAY, DEC. 18, 2003 Sunday School Class Enjoys Christmas Party The pastor's Sunday School Class of The event was a supper at the Belle Willis, Huell and Marguerite Hogansville First Baptist Church Bulloch House in Warm Springs. Stephens, Patti Phillips, Bill and Joycie enjoyed a Christmas party Saturday Brown, Julia Heard (visitor), Kenneth night, Dec. 13. Attending were Rex,. Harold Willis, and Susie Dialand Patricia Partch. John Kiser Barber Jr. Feb. 19, 1931 - Dec. 15, 2003 Carpet Industry Supervisor John Kiser Barber Jr., 72, of Cartersville, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at Emory Cartersville Medical Center. A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Billy Burks officiated and interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County. Mr. Barber was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Meriwether County, son of the late John Kiser Barber and the late Roberta Hayes Barber. He had lived' in Cartersville for forty years and retired as a dye department supervisor in the carpet industry. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Norman Freeman of Greenville'and Deborah and Bobby Denney of Grantville; one son, Ron Barber of Newnan; two sisters, Mary Massey and Mildred Crews, both of the Primrose Community; three brothers, Lindsey Barber of Luthersville, Eugene Barber of Greenville and Lewis Barber of Texas; six grandchildren and nine great-grand- children. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville was in charge of arrangements. Narvell P. Cash Dec. 30, 1938- Dec. 15, 2003 Hogansville Resident Narvell Purgason Cash, 64, of Hogansville, died Monday, Dec. 15, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. A funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 18 in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Rev. Randall Dunlap officiated, interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Mrs. Cash was born Dec. 30, 1938, daughter of the late Curtis and Ora Abner Purgason. She lived in Hogansville most of her life and was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include her husband, Grady Cash of Hogansville; one daugh- ter and son-in-law, Lisa and Shane Spradley of Hogansville; two sons and a daughter in-law, Randy and Linda Cash of Butler and David Cash of Hogansville; three sisters, Doris Strickland of Marietta, Elaine Milliner of Tifton, and Millie Smith of Hogansville; one broth- er, Edward Purgason of Newnan; and five grandchildren, Jana Cash, Tyler Cash, Jonathan Purgason, Meghan Cash and T. J. Spradley. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville was in charge of arrangements. Mary L. Payne Jan. 15, 1910 - Dec. 15, 2003 Westside Baptist Church Member Mary Leona Payne, 93, of Newnan, died Monday, Dec. 15, at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Westside Baptist Church in Newnan. Rev. Doug Bearden and Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiated. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Mrs. Payne was born January 15, 1910, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Bert and Elizabeth Morrison Attaway. A lifelong resident of Coweta County, she retired from Grantville Hosiery Mills and from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Newnan. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was the wife of the late Rufus R. Payne. Survivors include three sons, Rev. Melvin Payne and his wife, Mildred and Joe Payne and his wife, Linda, all of Newnan, and Charles Payne of Okeechobee, FL; one sister, Edna Smith of Newnan; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Bill Noles Oct. 25, 1933 - Dec. 8, 2003 Air Force Veteran Willm (Bill) Noles, 70, of Newnan and a former resident of Hogansville and Woodland, AL, died Monday, Dec. 8 at his home. A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 12 at Big Springs Baptist Church in Randolph County, AL. Rev. Scott Hammah officiated. Interment followed in the church ceme- tery. Mr. Noles was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Randolph County, AL, son of the late Felix Grady Noles and the late Annie Lura Davis Noles. An Air Force veter- an of the Korean War, he was a retired flooring installer, was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church, and had lived in Newnan for the past two years. Survivors include daughters, Windy Jenne of Melbourne, FL, Elaine Noles, Gait Noles,.Terry Burner of Grantville, Kathy Jo Morrow of Cedartown, and Candy Rudd of Tallahassee, FL; sons Darid Noles and Gene Carden, both of Newnan; sister Doris Gann of Melbourne, FL; brother, Ted Noles of Woodland, AL; and a number of grand- children and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Hipp Noles; a son, Billy Noles; and two sis- ters, Sue Bassett and Evelyn Owen. The Claude A. First Baptist Will Present 'Own Star' Musical Sum By PA'I-rl PHILLIPS "His Very Own Star", A Musical For Christmas, by Greg and Gall Skipper, arranged by Russell Martin and Greg Skipper, will be presented by the Adult Choir of the Hogansville First Baptist Church on Sunday morning, Dec. 21 in the church sanctuary during the morning worship service, starting at 1.1 a.m. Soloists for the presenta- tion are Sondra Lee (No Room For Him), Andrea Otwell (Cradle Song), and Joyce Brown (Beautiful Star of Bethlehem). Selections include Overture - scene 1; God's Big Family - scene 2; No Room For Him - scene 3; He Included Me with Joy to the World The Lord Has Come - scene 4; Cradle Song - scene 5; Beautiful Star of Bethlehem - scene 6; His Very Own Star - scene 7; and God's Big Family - reprise. This musical has the set- ting of four generations the Nelson family gathering together for Christmas. The characters are being portrayed by Ellen Davis Grandma Nelson; Kendra Palmer - Janet, teenager; Joshua Duck - 10-year old Chris; Leon Merrill - young father; Xavier Janney baby's first Christmas; Beth Palmer - Aunt June; and Rev.
