The Daily Dose
'Thunde:rstorms,' cashiers,
phone books, bad fllrnlture
I'm ticked off at local TV
meteorologists predicting
"thunderstorms." There are
rainstorms, snowstorms and
hailstorms. There is no such
thing as "thunderstorms."
Thunder is not a thing; it is a
sound produced by lightning
that splits the atmosphere.
The appropriate term is elec-
trical storms.
I'm ticked off at the uni-
form manager at the hotel
where I work. He did not have
the foresight to have long
pants for everyone working
outside on a 35-degree morn-
ing.
I am ticked off at cashiers
in supermarkets who are too
busy carrying on conversa-
tions with the bag persons to
pay attention to totaling up
my grocery bill. That's my
money they are adding up.
I am upset with Bell South
for not getting reliable people
to deliver the new phone
books. They are not being put
by the front door. They are
placed on the edge of drive-
ways and half out in the
streets, in piles of sand, dirt
and in fire-ant hills. Tele-
phone companies should
check out who they hire for
these jobs and find out what a
sloppy job they are doing.
They're talking about
$140,000 of taxpayer money
for all this Florida recounting.
I wonder how much recount-
ing we'd have if the parties in-
volved had to pay for these ex-
penses whenever they ask for
a recount and it came out the
same way.
I'm ticked off at a furniture

company. They promised me
everything when I bought the
furniture. It started falling
apart a week and a half after it
was delivered. I was told:
"Sorry; you bought it; you
signed for it; it is no longer our
problem."
What ticks me off is penny-
off and dollar-off prices. Only
an idiot would think that $9.99
is not $10 and $999 is not a
$1,000. Also, the fact that gas
is priced at $1.48 and ¾0 of a
cent per gallon. This is false
advertising because we do not
have tenth-of-a-cent coins in
this country. Therefore, we
cannot buy at advertised pric-
es.
I'm ticked off at movie the-
aters. When I take my kids to
PG movies I see advertise-
ments for R-rated movies that
are inappropriate or gory.
Stop that.
I'm so ticked off I can't find
any Hanukkah decorations in
Orlando. Jewish people do
live here.

I wanted to thank the gentle-
man who helped me in Winter
Garden. My granddaughter was
choking on bubble gum. He
helped us but got away without
us thanking him.
Thanks to all the kind doctors,
nurses and folks who have helped
me while l've been sick. Also to my
wife, children and grandchildren:
You've all been great.
l'd like to extend a thank you to
my husband: Thank you for our
great life going back and forth to
winters in Florida and summers in
Long Island. Thanks for every-
thing. I love you.
I want to say thanks to a nice
woman who helped me out: I'd
locked my keys in my car and the
motor was running. She took me
home so I could get my second set
of keys.
I'd like to thank Tracey D. for
her effort to bring back rock to
Orlando.
