John W. Music
March 4, 1938 - December 16, 2002
John W. Music, 64, of Grantville, died December 16th at
his home. The funeral service was conducted December 19
at the Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville.
The Reverend Robert Longshore and the Reverend David
Simmons officiated and interment was in St. Paul Methodist
Church Cemetery in Whitesburg.
Mr. Music was born March 4, 1938 in Douglasville, son
of John James Music and Ora Molana Johnsa Music. A resi-
dent of the Atlanta area most of his life, he lived at Lake
Sinclair for six years before making his home in Grantville
earlier this year. He served as an Army Green Beret in the
Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict and was retired from
SACO Systems in Suwanee. He was a member of the
Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wilder Music of
Grantville; one daughter, Teresa Tripp of Buford; three sons,
John William Music, Jr. of Macon, Danny James Music of
Newnan and Ronnie Ross of Griffin; two stepdaughters,
Debra Walton of Forest Park and Tina Brickey of Ligionier,
Ind.; three stepsons, Buddy Wilder of Grantville, Scott Wilder
of Newnan and Billy Wilder of Forest Park; three sisters,
Margie Snowden of Jonesboro, Eula Lee Nix of Forest Park
and Mildred Bryson of Social Circle; one brother, Mac
Braswell of Whitesburg; 29 grandchildren; and seven great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepdaugh-
ter, Brenda Watts.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sallie H. Presley
May 14, 1914 - December 18, 2002
Mrs. Sallie Hurst Presley, 88, of Hogansville, died
December 18th at her home. Interment services were held
December 20th in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Mrs. Presley was born May 14, 1914 in Altoona, Alabama,
and was a former resident of the Atlanta area. She had lived
in Hogansville for the past eighteen years, was a member
of the Baptist church, and was the wife of the late Tom
Presley.
Survivors include three daughters, Nellie Johnson of
Nashville, Tenn., Irene Ware of Seattle, Wash., and Joan
Presley of Carrollton; two sons, Tommy Presley and Robert
Presley, both of Hogansville; and a number of grandchil-
dren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville was in charge of arrangements.
