TAKING A BREAK - Most Hogansville youngsters are enjoying their holiday break, with pub-
lic school not scheduled to start again until Jan. 8. Most, like Meagan Sharp, seen here partic-
ipating in a book character day at Hogansville Elementary as Junie B. Jones, will spend the
days off playing with new Christmas presents and spending time with friends and family. And
the weather promises to stay interesting, too. , ,.

Rev. Harold Willis continued
his Series of Sermons about the
great words of
Christmasduring the December
17th Morning Worship hour
focusing on the word Peace with
thesermon title and text being
"On Earth, Peace" (Luke 2: 4-
14.) The angel's announce-
mentincluded God's offer of
peace..Peace comes through
knowing Jesus Christ, the
Prince ofPeace. Intro: One of
the most significant words of
Christmas is "peace."
Isaiah called the Messiah the
"Prince of Peace." The hearts
of people everywhere hunger
for peace. Many pray for peace.
Some have wondered when
Jesus Christ will bring peace."
Most have concluded that peace
will come only at the return of
Christ, although He offered it
2000 yrs. ago. Some have sur-
mised that Jesus is a failure as
a peace-bringer. To take this-
position is to misunderstand the
nature of true peace and the
character of the peace that
He brings to the human
heart. (The kind of peace many
people think about is like tha-
trecorded on a tombstone by
widow, "May he rest in peace,
until we meet again."
I. The peace of a clean heart.
A. The Lamb of God takes away
our sin.
(Jn.l:29.)
His sinless life and sacrifi-
cial death paid our penalty and
redeems us to God. (Gen. 3:15;
Ro.5:18-19.)
B. The Lord of Life offers
forgiveness that is full, free and
forever. (I Jn. 1:7; Ro.5:l.)
II. The peace of a right rela-
tionship with God. A. Only faith
brings us into a rightrelation-
ship with God through Jesus.
(Jn. 1:11-12.)
Peace is offered only to per-
sons in right relationship with
God! (Lk. 2:14.)
B. Only when we experi-
ence the peace of God can we
love Him (I Jn 4:19.(or even
understand Him.) Only when
we love God can we love other
people and be atpeace with
them. (Eph. 2:14.)
"Blessed are the peacemak-
ers, for they shall be called sons
of God."
(Matt.5:9.)
III. The peace of a Sprit:
controlled life. A. The Holy
Spirit empowers us to give
usvictory over sin. B. The Holy
Spirit indwells us to mold us into
the image of Christ.
(Ro.8:29.)
IV. The peace of a purpose
for living. (Matt. 5:16.)
(Dr. Perry Webb tells of
boarding a train and seating
himself in a car where he was
the only occupant. When the
conductor came by, he asked Dr.
Webb to move to another car.
"Why?"
"Because this one isn't
hooked to anything that's going
anywhere."
V. The peace of adequate
resources. (It's a good feeling
to have enough money to pay-
all your bills, isn' it?) It is a bet-
ter feeling to know that what-
ever may happen to us inthis
world, God will see us through
and help us have an adequate
supply of life's necessities.
(Matt: 6:25-34; Phil. 4:13.)
And, to know the security of
being paid up in God's estimate
on judgment morning.
Concl. Jesus Christ offers
the peace of forgiveness that is
full and free and forever.
Jesusoffers the peace of belong-
ing to the Father God and to the
family of God. He is thepeace-
bringer to the individual heart.
He will bring harmony and
peace within therelationships
of the home and help you estab-
lish harmony with those about
you. Will youallow Him to bring
peace to you today?
There will be no Fifth
Sunday night song service in
December.
